Meet Tiffiny

About Tiffiny Mitchell

Since 2009, Tiffiny has worked in various government programs to provide services that help people, including working in child welfare, the judicial system, and other essential services that are essential to giving people the time and financial support they need to handle some of life's biggest challenges. She knows that when done right, these government programs make a huge difference in people’s livelihood.

As a woman from a proud union family (AFSCME Council 28/WFSE, along with an IBEW-member husband), Tiffiny has a proven track record of fighting for working families. And as your next state representative, Tiffiny will work to make housing more affordable and stabilize rents, increase funding for students and schools - including career training programs - and will work to ensure access to affordable healthcare so that unexpected illnesses don’t turn into bankruptcy. Olympia needs to deliver on these issues! That means we need someone who isn’t afraid to stand up to special interests, to protect our environment, or fight to protect reproductive rights.

Tiffiny Mitchell knows how to get things done in the state legislature. She’s done it before. She served as a former state legislator in the State of Oregon from 2019-2021, making her focus on issues relating to housing, healthcare, and education.  She delivered on those promises, voting to make historic investments into education, to create the Paid Family and Medical Leave program to allow for all Oregonians the ability to take time off to care for themselves or family members with a serious health condition, fleeing domestic violence, or to bond with a new child, and voting for the pioneering “missing middle” legislation that promised to create more “middle housing” supply by limit zoning for single-family detached homes and allowing for the construction of more duplexes, triplexes, and fourplexes in towns and cities.  She also voted to make Oregon the first state in the nation to adopt statewide rent control, capping rents and helping protect rent-exploited families. Tiffiny is committed to listening to everyone in the development of policy, and especially to those who have often been forgotten in the discussion.

With Donald Trump on the ballot again this year, Tiffiny was inspired to run for state representative to continue the fight for our freedoms, values, and progress.  With the Dobbs decision overturning Roe v. Wade and returning the legality of a woman's right to choose to the states, it literally rolled back the clock on women's and reproductive rights.  Tiffiny wants to ensure the political power dynamic in Washington never shifts in a way that compromises women's rights to make the best choices for themselves and their families.

Tiffiny and her husband, Mitch, live in Port Orchard.
